Masque is the head DM at Edges in Santa Clara, and has been in the lifestyle his entire adult life. Masque is a professional piercer who learned piercing through Fakir Musafar’s instruction. He has been in the public scene off and on for the past decade, but took on a higher profile in recent years. Identifying primarily as a sadist, his physical interests include edge play, needles, rough body play, heavy impact play, and exploring limits and boundaries through SM. Psychologically and emotionally, he enjoys humiliation and degradation play, ritual, and catharsis. Much of his play incorporates religious iconography and references. Currently, Masque teaches as a lecturer at San Jose State University. People viewing photos of Masque’s scenes might expect a good deal of violence and aggression. While his play is usually rough, most voyeurs are surprised by the amount of laughter in his scenes. A former lay minister in the Baptist Faith, Masque has been on several overseas missionary trips to Central and South America. His upbringing was dominated by a conservative culture and theology. Before embracing his vices, Masque had been accepted to a Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and his intent was to live a life devoted to pastorship. The Devil, however, made a better offer.

Paintedpinup has been exploring BDSM for the last couple of years, but has only been active in the public scene in the last year. Having discovered her love of everything from rough body and impact play, to piercing, she has been slowly but surely getting more involved in the educational aspect to BDSM. She can often be found gleefully bottoming to Masque and as a stunt bottom in his classes.

In the Rough

Leave the toy bag at home, but bring your creativity, tenacity, and your best taunts as we tumble our way through a variety of scenes centered on rough body play. The class covers a variety of scene types and constructions, from the fun and playful to the oh-my-god-did-you-see-how-hard-he-hit-her? scenes. We’ll start with the take down, learning how to safely and effectively tackle your play partner, because nice warm-ups work and all, but nothing quite takes the breath away (for play partners or on-lookers) like a tackle! We’ll talk about what to do with someone once you’ve got them on the ground. And we’ll talk about fun rough-body-play games. Approaches include “handicapping” the scene top, rough-housing in a playful setting, and giving opportunities for both parties to “go all out.”

Things That Go Thud in the Night:
A Caning Class with Masque
 
Chances are, there’s at least one cane (or cane-like toy) in every toy bag. But what to do with that stick? The obvious answer, of course, is to get a bunch more sticks, then beat someone with them. “Things that go Thud in the Night” is an introduction to caning, covering different types of canes, caning techniques, and scene construction. Topics covered include caning for fast effect, rhythmic caning, percussion caning, and caning as sensation play. Additionally, Masque will bring a toy bag containing rattan, bamboo, acrylic, and plastic canes. Attendees should feel free to bring any canes they have. Everyone will get a chance to try out various canes and caning techniques.
